The Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has advised all Governors in the country to take education seriously. Amaechi gave this advice while delivering a lecture titled, “Higher Education and Good Governance in Nigeria: The way Forward” at the Second Osun State University Distinguished Guest Lecture Series, held at the University Auditorium, main campus in Osogbo.

Osun State University has emerged third position in the 2014 edition of the Africa Regional Inter-University Debate Competition organised by the UNESCO Institute for African Culture and International Understanding in partnership with the Centre for Human Security and Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library.

The University was represented by a 200 level Law student, Ogundele Temiloluwa from the Faculty of Law and Olusegun Faleyimu, a 200 level student of the Department of Languages and Linguistics.
