Dr. Tijani Adekilekun graduated with MBBS degree in 2004 from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, following which he had his housemanship done at Adeoyo State Hospital, Ibadan. He received Proficiency Certificate in Management in 2006 when he was on one year compulsory youth service. He worked as a Medical Officer with Osun state hospitals’ Management Board at Comprehensive Health centre, Otan-Ayegbaju and state Hospital, Ila-Orangun before he joined Osun State University as a Lecturer II in August 2009.

He bagged his M.Sc (Hons) degree in Anatomy from University of Ilorin in July 2011 and is currently a Lecturer I in the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences of the College of Health Sciences of Osun State University.

Research Interests
Microscopic anatomy, Anatomical education, Anthropometric evaluation of Non Communicable Diseases.

Research Achievements
• Histological and biochemical assessment of the effects of intramuscular artemether on the brain and reproductive organs of female Wistar rats
• Comparative histochemical evaluation of the aqueous and smoke extracts of datura species (Datura metel and Datura stramonium), Tobacco nicotinia and Cannabis sativa on the brain and viscera organs of adult Wistar rats.
• Histological assessment of neural cells of frontal cortex of two reptilian species: wall gecko and skink
• Histological assessment of the effects of Cnidoscolous aconitifolious and Saliva officinalis on the viscera organs of wistar rats.
• Assessment of students’ interest and perception of anatomy as an undergraduate degree programme.

Scientific Contributions
• Published twenty (20) articles in both local and international peer reviewed journals and seven (7) papers of proceedings.

Scientific/Professional activities
• Faculty member in the College of Health Sciences, Osun State University since 2009.
• Member of local and international scientific and professionals societies (Anatomical Society of Nigeria, Nigerian Medical Association, International Brain Research Organisation and Society for Neuroscientists of Africa)
• Principal investigator evaluating the nutritional values of aqueous leaf extract of Moringa oleifera on the brain and viscera organs of adult Wistar rats and some of the effects of the leaf extract on lead induced damage in the visual integrating centres of adult Wistar rats using histochemical and immunohistochemical techniques.
• Principal investigator evaluating the common practices and the cadre of technical staff in the dissecting rooms of south west Nigerian universities.
