Osun State University has continued to enjoy unflinching support from this focused astute administrator, grassroot politician, philanthropist and human rights activist.

Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola was born on 25 May, 1957. He graduated from The Polytechnic Ibadan where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He was Speaker, Students’ Parliament at The Polytechnic, Ibadan; President of the Black Nationalist Movement, between 1978 and 1980. He is a Fellow of the following professional bodies:

• Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM);
• Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE);
• Nigerian Association of Technological Engineers (NATE) and
• Certified Marketing Communications Institute of Nigeria (CMCIN).

Some of his awards include: Ambassador of Goodwill for the State of Tennessee, USA; Nigerian Society of Engineers Merit Award (Contribution to Engineering Discipline), the Most Outstanding Chief Executive award of the West African Culture Development Body for the promotion of culture, ethics and values in Africa and the Lagos State branch of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) award for his leadership style of governance. 

Since he came on board, his administration has exhibited full commitment to the implementation of six-point integral plan of his government
for the development of the state of Osun. While answering a question, the ViceChancellor describes the Governor, ‘as a genius, a democrat and a builder who has remained focused and resolute in improving the academic landscape of Osun State University in particular and Osun State in general’.
