The Osun State University community celebrates one of its distinguished alumni, Oba Ishola Olayinka Oyetunde Jokotola II, who was officially installed as the Oludo of Ido-Osun by the Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

Oba Jokotola, a proud graduate of the Department of Geography, College of Management and Social Sciences, Okuku Campus, joins a growing list of Osun State University alumni who are making remarkable contributions to leadership and National development.

The grand ceremony, which held at the palace square in Ido-Osun, attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, including traditional rulers, Government officials, University representatives, UNIOSUN Alumni, and community leaders. Representing Osun State University at the event was the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, who led a delegation to honour the newly installed monarch.

In his remarks, Professor Adebooye described Oba Oyetunde’s ascension to the throne as a moment of pride for the entire UNIOSUN community and a testament to the University’s commitment to raising future leaders grounded in knowledge, culture, and service.

“At Osun State University, we are proud of the great strides our alumni continue to make across the globe. Today’s occasion is not only a celebration for the people of Ido-Osun, but also a moment of pride for us as a University. Oba Oyetunde’s appointment is a clear reflection of the values of leadership, integrity, and community service that we instil in our students,” the Vice-Chancellor said.

He further prayed for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance for the new king in his reign, while expressing the University’s willingness to collaborate with the Ido-Osun palace on matters of community development and youth empowerment.

Oba Oyetunde, who completed his undergraduate degree at UNIOSUN some years ago, has continued to exemplify excellence and service in his career and personal life. His elevation to royal status is seen as an inspiration to current students and alumni of the University.

The Vice-Chancellor also extended his appreciation to Governor Ademola Adeleke for his commitment to preserving the rich cultural heritage of Osun State through the appointment and recognition of credible leaders across traditional institutions.

As Osun State University continues to soar in academic excellence and societal impact, the institution remains proud of its alumni, who are making meaningful contributions to leadership, governance, and National transformation.
