The presentation ceremony, held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the University’s main campus in Osogbo, witnessed the formal handover of the vehicle to the leadership of the Students’ Union.
The University management described the gesture as a strategic intervention aimed at supporting union activities and facilitating transportation for student-related programmes across the Institution’s campuses.
Speaking during the event, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the provision of the bus underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to the well-being of students and the promotion of effective representation within the University community.
He urged the union leadership to deploy the vehicle judiciously, ensuring that it serves the collective interest of the student body.
The Vice-Chancellor, however, stressed that the bus must not be used for political purposes or taken to political gatherings, warning that such actions could misrepresent the Institution in the eyes of the public.
He also expressed appreciation to the University Governing Council, led by Professor Wale Oladipo, for approving the procurement of the vehicle.
While advising on safety, the Vice-Chancellor cautioned against reckless driving, particularly over-speeding, noting that adherence to traffic regulations is essential for the preservation of lives and property.
The symbolic presentation of the vehicle key was made to the Students’ Union President, Shedrack Oremokun Imoleayo, who expressed profound gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the University management for the gesture.
He assured that the Students’ Union would make responsible use of the bus and strictly adhere to all guidelines provided by the University authorities.
The donation is widely seen as another milestone in the University’s sustained efforts to create a student-friendly environment and strengthen Institutional support for student engagement.
