A top legislator of the Osun State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Education, Hon. John Babatunde Ibirogba, has heaped praises on the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor 'Ayo Clement Adebooye, for his shrewd management of the University's thin treasury.

The House Committee Chairman gave this commendation in his address at the University's Council Chamber on Thursday, 18th August, 2022, when he led the committee members on an oversight visit to the University.
Speaking to the Vice-Chancellor, Principal Officers of the University and other members of Management present at the meeting, the Chairman said "Sometimes, I am a bit abhorrent to praising people. But when the occasion demands it, one just has to do it. Given the financial quagmire that the University is being faced with, you have been able to excel in financing the administrative cost of the institution with so much frugality, and you need to be commended for that."
The Committee Chairman also lauded the University and all staff for keeping the University running in the face of the ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). He specially appreciated the University’s staff unions for giving the institution stability, and noted that their cordiality with Management had saved the University from missing two academic semesters since the strike started.
He further commended and congratulated the University on the approval of its MBBS programme by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, and the increase of its yearly intake for medicine and surgery from fifty students to a hundred students. Concluding his address, the Chairman urged the Vice-Chancellor not to rest on his laurels, but intensify efforts to increase the University's internally generated revenue.
The Vice-Chancellor, in his response thanked the lawmakers for diligently representing their constituencies in particular, and the great people of Osun State in general. He beseeched them to help the University to get increased personnel subvention by intervening on its behalf with the Executive arm of Government in the State.
