On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Osun State University, Professor Sola Akinrinade, I welcome you to the webpage of the College of Management and Social Sciences.
Osun State University, a multi-campus institution operating collegiate system, has eight Colleges in six Campuses located in the six geopolitical zones of Osun State. The College of Management and Social Sciences is located in Okuku Campus. The College is poised to continually respond to the changing imperatives in Management and Social Sciences and seek to raise men and women imbued with the requisite skills, knowledge and competencies in Management and Social Sciences, to be arrow heads of the socio-economic and technological development of Osun State.
General Introduction
The College of Management and Social Sciences is committed to the pursuit of academic innovation and skill-based training within a tradition of excellence in teaching, research and community service. The mission of the College therefore is centred on equipping our students with the basic foundation and tools that will prepare them adequately in meeting the challenges of modern management and entrepreneurial sectors.
The Management and Social Sciences disciplines are members of the same family of subject areas whose interests centre primarily on the advancement of knowledge in human relations pursued within the context of each discipline. They are disciplines whose pre-occupation is geared towards addressing social, economic and entrepreneurial challenges.
At UNIOSUN, the Management and Social Sciences courses were part of the programmes packaged at the implementation level. At the take-off point, Bachelors degree programmes were mounted in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Geography and Resource Management as well as Political Science and International Relations.
Using the guiding philosophy of UNIOSUN which is “think big, start small and scale-up gradually”, the College intends to introduce academic programmes in Sociology, Psychology, Hotel and Tourism Management, Mass Communication, Social Work and a host of others in subsequent phases of the University development.
It is the hope of the College that the goal of the University in producing an all-round, well-groomed and adequately trained graduates will be realised.
